Beach Volleyball On Tap for Some Atlanta Youth This Weekend ATLANTA—Some lucky metro Atlanta youth will get to see the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour this weekend at Atlantic Station. Atlanta City Councilman Ceasar C. Mitchell is giving complimentary tickets to 100 young people and their families to see the professional volleyball series. “I want to expose our young people to as many positive opportunities and experiences that are available to them,” says Councilman Mitchell. “This AVP tour is an exciting game that all youth should witness, but especially urban youth who may not have a chance to see live, beach volleyball for a variety of reasons. This weekend they can see it practically in their own backyard.” Mitchell, who has supported the AVP Tour since its first stop in Atlanta, is giving the tickets to students who participated in his Annual College Prep Series in April. Beach volleyball was recently voted by the NCAA to become a nationally recognized sport, and it continues to grow at an incredible rate. Some of the world’s best beach volleyball players will compete for the title of the 2009 Atlanta Open at the AVP tour, May 29-31, 2009.
